Out of a broad spectrum of influences, Morgan Packard has refined his concept and sound continuously. Nine months (and much custom audio software coding) after his previous release on Konque, "Frozen," we return to Morgan's soundscapes with "Green." The title track is loopy & gorgeous, and it's also almost a manifesto. His modus here seems to be: "Find a few sounds, tones and melodies that are so beautiful they're timeless, then stretch them out through a long period of time, with minute changes in each sound over the duration." It's bravely minimalist in concept, and it works well for him. "Menthol (David Last Dub)" is a collaboration. The loopy minimalism is once again fully Morgan Packard. The percussion, bass, and deep-toned mix are David's, in line with both dub and club sides of his sound. |
