Morgan Packard's releases on Microcosm Music and Anticipate Recordings have found him at the ever-vanishing edge between acoustic and electronic sounds. His approach to composition has evolved a great deal over the years, but his ear for melancholic harmony and an almost nostalgic sense of place remain. His track "Frozen" finds him at his most romantic and overtly musical; this could easily be a film soundtrack or the perfect headphone backdrop to a slow walk through a woodland of red and yellow trees. A remix, provided by Osaka resident and GeometricDeck label boss Segeke, pulls the track even further out into uncharted territory... a dancefloor remix this is not, but forward-thinking enjoyable experimentalism, this is. After the spring release of Ezekiel Honig's "Prologuing the Inevitable," this bookend to the summer of 2009 expands the range of sounds on offer from Konque. |
